Wow, it's already March! How are you doing on those goals you set in December?

Time is flying by so I’ll ask the same question that I asked one month ago. Are you on track with your goals for 2010? You wanted to get into better shape, start exercising daily, increase your efforts in your career and find more balance in your life. How are you doing? Are you on track yet? Or are you filled with “excusitis”?

I’m not trying to bust your chops. That’s not my role. I want to encourage you to take the first steps that you decided to do - but have postponed for some reason. Start today. If you can work on your goal ~ daily for the next 4 weeks, you’ll feel better, prouder, stronger and happier by April.

Coaching and Friendships make a difference

The following is a reading that my yoga teacher shares with us occasionally. It reminds me of the power of coaching, friendships and relationships we need while we explore life. Enjoy and share!

People come into your life for a Reason, a Season or a Lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.

They may seem like a Godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you never knew. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a Season. LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life. Whether you were a Reason, a Season or a Lifetime.

It's February - how are your goals going so far?

Where the heck did January go? Okay, so you started 2010 with great goals, anticipation, enthusiasm and energy. How are you doing so far? Are you on track with your goals? How’s that diet and exercise program working so far?

I don’t ask this just to be a pain in your hind side. I ask as a coach. We all need encouragement at times. We all get “stuck” sometimes because we are juggling so many commitments and activities. Decide what is most important to you and add some sincere effort to it today.

The difference between try and triumph is a little umph. ~Author Unknown If you need a hand for that extra “umph” - feel welcome to hire a coach you can relate to.

February can be your “fresh start” month to make those things happen that are important to you!

My contribution to better attitudes

This month has been Very busy with seminars, workshops and presentations - so I apologize for such a long delay since my last blog on this site. I’ve hosted workshops on How to set Goals and my fourth presentation on How to Stay Energized and Positive Daily. The feedback has been excellent! I will do All I can to get people back on track after such a challenging year.

On “the road” I’ve spoken in Scottsdale, Quincy, Weymouth and Boston. I share ideas on how to work smarter, concepts from the book SO WHAT and success stories from other people who are “making it happen.”

Attitude by Charles Swindoll

                   ATTITUDE

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. __________________

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…

                ____________________

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

-Charles Swindoll-

Goals for 2010

This is one of my favorite times of the year. I enjoy most of this week reflecting on my personal and professional highlights this year. There have been quite a few “positives” and a few challenges as well. Overall, it’s been a great year to test my own attitude and “tough-mindedness” and as you can see ~ I survived! (although I do feel like I’ve aged 5 years in the last twelve months)

Some people talk about new year “resolutions” and changes you want to make. My suggestion to you is to keep your list to a few major focuses and be specific. Personally, I prefer to set Goals instead of resolutions. If you need more details about setting SMART goals, visit my Blog from Optimist Island http://optimistisland.blogspot.com

New Blog from Optimist Island

Most people who know me well, will tell you that the first two words that comes to their mind when my name is mentioned is positive attitude. The third word is optimism! It’s a great reputation to have in life!

Throughout my life since I was just a young teen, I have shared a positive attitude with those around me. Yes, there were a few pessimists whom I drove NUTS ~ but I don’t care much for pessimists anyway. I surround myself with fellow optimists and people who I describe as happy about life. They are “winners” with exciting goals, great ambition and tremendous discipline. I Always feel energized when I’m around them. (see below for more)
