Inspiring sales reps @ Chatham Bars Inn
Written on 27 April 2009 by Mark Lewis. 5 comments.A Managing Director whom I’ve known for 12 years asked if I would give a 30-40 minute inspiring presentation to his top salespeople. When we met to talk about the meeting, he shared his reason why. “Neil, it’s easy to host dinners and celebrate success when everything is going great. I want to host this dinner now, to encourage my team and congratulate them for what they’ve done, despite the economy. This is a great group of folks and I’m proud to work with them.”
The meeting was a great success, followed by a FANTASTIC dinner at Chatham Bars Inn. (By the way, if you have never stayed at the Chatham Bars Inn, you are missing a very special place!) During the evening, I enjoyed talking with most of his team and my friend was right. These are terrific people who are passionate about life and their career of helping clients plan for retirement. This was such a bonding experience that I believe this team will have a year of success that will be better than most of their competition. read more…
It’s puzzling to me however, why more companies don’t host meetings like this one. It is not expensive, most speakers will work within the limited budgets and sales people need a boost of enthusiasm and success stories to maintain their good attitudes. I know budgets are tight, but if managers don’t take care of their sales reps now, they risk the chance of losing good people to the competition.
The Chinese symbol for Crisis and Opportunity is identical. What do you see in this economy? Are you fixated on the crisis and obstacles? Or are you seeking opportunities like other go-getters are? Do all you can to stay inspired with a good positive attitude. Whatever you focus on the most during your thinking time, will either energize you or deplete you. It’s your choice. I’ll remain positive and seek out opportunities. I hope you do too!
