Most people who know me well, will tell you that the first two words that comes to their mind when my name is mentioned is positive attitude. The third word is optimism! It’s a great reputation to have in life!

Throughout my life since I was just a young teen, I have shared a positive attitude with those around me. Yes, there were a few pessimists whom I drove NUTS ~ but I don’t care much for pessimists anyway. I surround myself with fellow optimists and people who I describe as happy about life. They are “winners” with exciting goals, great ambition and tremendous discipline. I Always feel energized when I’m around them. (see below for more)

A friend made a suggestion to me about 2 weeks ago. She suggested that I create a blog with optimistic ideas and stories because that’s what I share and because Americans need hope right now. She didn’t need to persuade me. As soon as she mentioned it - my mind was going 100 miles per hour. Thank you Insa!

Within 24 hours I created a blog which I call Optimist Island. I welcome you to visit and enjoy!

My mission during 2009 was to be a Beacon of HOPE for the people I meet, talk to at my seminars, exercise with, or come into contact by phone or in person during my coaching sessions. We’ve all read terrible headlines, heard of friends who are out of work - through no fault of their own. We know that 200,000 business have recently gone out of business. Homes are being foreclosed on at alarming rates. Having said that, the very least I can do - is give someone something to smile about - if only for a moment of peace.

I also share an optimistic quote or story on Facebook - every morning. Over 100 friends have also joined a Group I’ve started on Facebook. It’s named Neil Wood’s Optimist Island daily quotes. Again, I simply want to do my share in making a difference in as many lives as I can possibly touch.

Let me encourage and inspire you to do the same. Reach out and help someone who needs a boost. You will also feel better. Remember, a candle that lights another candle, loses nothing.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and All the best for the New Year!
