Why some salespeople are having a great year!
Written on 02 May 2009 by Neil Wood. 6 comments.I just spoke with a great friend of mine who called to check in with me. We talked about business, the economy, life in general and then made our golf plans for the weekend of course. When I asked my friend how business was, he told me that he was having one of his best years in the last 5. I don’t hear that a lot these days, so my curious mind asked for more details.
What was working so well I asked him. He told me three specific things he’s doing, while others moan and groan about the economy. 1. He’s constantly in contact with his clients, via phone call, face to face meetings, emails and even a daily inspirational message of the day (email). He’s doing this to show his clients that he is here, ready to help with whatever they need. He’s not hiding! more….
He made a decision NOT to participate in the recession. He’s also focused daily on his positive attitude and does all he can to stay upbeat. I’ve know him for 14 years and his attitude is genuine and sincere.
He is heavily involved with strategic partnerships with CPAs, Attorneys and other business professionals. He volunteers to be on a few committees for the groups he has joined. This gives him exposure, direct involvement in the future success of projects and he meets some very successful people like himself.
Finally, every time he speaks with a client or a business contact who mentions a friend who is having a difficult time with the portfolio, insurance or other investments, my friend offers, FOR FREE, to provide an evaluation of what they have. He’ll review what they own, give suggestions or tell them why this is a good program they already own.
As a result, his business is booming because he gains lots of referrals. People trust him because he has the client’s needs in mind ALWAYS. He does NOT sell what is best for his interest. He does the best for the client and that word has spread this year.
Simple isn’t it? Some sales reps make it too difficult and their minds are filled with stinking thinking.
There is a lot of business out there. Have fun and do your best your clients and their referrals. You too can be having a great year!
