Neil Wood's New Book available in June!
Hi Friends, I have been asked SO many times to write another book that I’ve finally said yes. My book on Inspiring Quotes from Optimist Island should be available to purchase on June 10, 2010. It’s a collection of my favorite quotes over the past 40 years as well as others I’ve found just recently! As usual, I’ll share quotes on Optimism, Goals, Persistence, Hope, Friendships and YES - about Attitude…just to name a few of the chapters.
IF you have quotes you would like share, I may still have a little time to add a few more.

This month has been Very busy with seminars, workshops and presentations - so I apologize for such a long delay since my last blog on this site. I’ve hosted workshops on How to set Goals and my fourth presentation on How to Stay Energized and Positive Daily. The feedback has been excellent! I will do All I can to get people back on track after such a challenging year.
On “the road” I’ve spoken in Scottsdale, Quincy, Weymouth and Boston. I share ideas on how to work smarter, concepts from the book SO WHAT and success stories from other people who are “making it happen.”

Attitude by Charles Swindoll
ATTITUDE
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. __________________
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…
____________________
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our Attitudes.”
-Charles Swindoll-
Wishing you many Great moments in life!

New Blog from Optimist Island
Most people who know me well, will tell you that the first two words that comes to their mind when my name is mentioned is positive attitude. The third word is optimism! It’s a great reputation to have in life!
Throughout my life since I was just a young teen, I have shared a positive attitude with those around me. Yes, there were a few pessimists whom I drove NUTS ~ but I don’t care much for pessimists anyway. I surround myself with fellow optimists and people who I describe as happy about life. They are “winners” with exciting goals, great ambition and tremendous discipline. I Always feel energized when I’m around them. (see below for more)

We become what we think about most!
I’m listening to the great Earl Nightingale again and getting more energized for the last 4 months of 2009. His recording, The Strangest Secret was released in 1956 and continues to be a hit today. It’s even on YouTube! Earl would have loved seeing that, I’m sure!
His main message is that we are the power behind our success or failure, depending on the thoughts we fill our mind with. I thought about this during a recent business trip while enjoying a first class flight and beverage on Northwest airlines. Here we are on this beautiful and spacious 757, which has enormous power - and yet it’s all controlled by the main pilot. He has his flight plan, hands on the controls and can make this plane go as far as he wants, in any direction. Our MIND is very much the same. Our thoughts are OUR fuel and we are the pilot that determines our own flight plan. We may deviate from it slightly, but we are responsible for where we go and at what speed and attitude/altitude!
