Why some salespeople are having a great year!
I just spoke with a great friend of mine who called to check in with me. We talked about business, the economy, life in general and then made our golf plans for the weekend of course. When I asked my friend how business was, he told me that he was having one of his best years in the last 5. I don’t hear that a lot these days, so my curious mind asked for more details.
What was working so well I asked him. He told me three specific things he’s doing, while others moan and groan about the economy. 1. He’s constantly in contact with his clients, via phone call, face to face meetings, emails and even a daily inspirational message of the day (email). He’s doing this to show his clients that he is here, ready to help with whatever they need. He’s not hiding! more….

Inspiring sales reps @ Chatham Bars Inn
A Managing Director whom I’ve known for 12 years asked if I would give a 30-40 minute inspiring presentation to his top salespeople. When we met to talk about the meeting, he shared his reason why. “Neil, it’s easy to host dinners and celebrate success when everything is going great. I want to host this dinner now, to encourage my team and congratulate them for what they’ve done, despite the economy. This is a great group of folks and I’m proud to work with them.”
The meeting was a great success, followed by a FANTASTIC dinner at Chatham Bars Inn. (By the way, if you have never stayed at the Chatham Bars Inn, you are missing a very special place!) During the evening, I enjoyed talking with most of his team and my friend was right. These are terrific people who are passionate about life and their career of helping clients plan for retirement. This was such a bonding experience that I believe this team will have a year of success that will be better than most of their competition. read more…

Walking across hot coals to overcome FEAR and get inspired
What a great night at the Sheraton hotel in Framingham! Last night I hosted our monthly Firewalk for 45 sales executives who wanted to be inspired while overcoming a great fear of being burned. Yes, the coals are 1200-2000 degrees as they are delivered from the bonfire, just seconds away from our walking path. 12 different countries were represented, from Russia to South America to USA, yet they all spoke the same language with their eyes when the Firewalk path was covered with burning hot coals. “We’re going to do what?”
Everyone crossed the 15 foot walk of hot coals, and the enthusiasm and cheers was enough to inspire anyone within earshot! I always find it interesting to begin a presentation in front of complete strangers and within an hour later, have these enthusiastic, passionate people shaking my hand and giving me high fives with sincere passion and gratitude. to read more

Time to replace some of your salespeople?
In this economy, it’s vital to have a team of salespeople who have a great work ethic, positive attitude, high energy, passion, discipline and a willingness to do those things that unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Despite the gloomy news we continue to be bombarded with 24/7, I have spoken with a handful of salespeople this week who are doing really well.
